It was an unusual meeting. May be summer relaxation influenced negatively, but Art-Talkers members were not ready with their presentations.
Brave and bright Table Topic Master Olga Pogorelova saved the situation. She brought dozens of sayings and proverbs about several notions – “loneliness”, “alone”, ”lonely” and “loneness” and inspired both the members and the guests to make unprepared speeches up to 2 minutes, concerning various situations based on life experience.
I can’t say that it was an easy task, especially for the guests. But the atmosphere in the Club was so friendly that even newcomers felt themselves more or less confident. Even those visitors who had been working that day in the British Council’s library were interested in Art-talkers activities and took part in Table Topic Session.
I’m sure that it’ll take time to follow all the rules at Art-Talkers. But time proves that Club, step by step, moves forward. We already know how to break ice and start a presentation, how to succeed in opening, body and conclusion, what mistakes to avoid, and what is more important – how to speak English without notes.
Hope, in the nearest future we won’t be afraid of Ah Counter, Timer and Grammarian who, after listening to speeches, explain our typical mistakes. We attend Art-Talkers to have fun, meet new friends, share art news, speak and relax. This Club is our sweet home, isn’t it?
